News at ICMM

  1. Researchers create the world's thinnest hard magnet

The study, led by IMNA with participation from ICMM, is a worldwide milestone and has potential applications in technological devices that require a defined magnetic field, such as a computer's RAM memory.
  2. The ICMM-CSIC welcomed over a dozen 4th-year high school students to undertake internships for one week

The "4ºESO+Empresa" program is an educational initiative in the Community of Madrid aimed at providing students of this grade with work experiences in companies of their interest
  3. The 2024 Frontiers in Materials Science courses conclude with more than 70 students

40 people attended the first course, while 32 have completed the second one.
  4. Four ICMM-CSIC researchers get Ramón y Cajal contracts

Eider Berganza, Rui E. Silva, José Carlos García-Abadillo Uriel, and Javier Pérez Carvajal get these fellowships for researchers with an "outstanding career".

  6. Researchers create new graphene-based devices to advance future cellular therapy for multiple sclerosis patients

These new devices utilize graphene-derived nanomaterials that promote the anti-inflammatory function of suppressive myeloid cells. The study demonstrates the capability of these nanomaterials as successful nanotechnological tools for autoimmune diseases or cancer.
  7. Researchers create a hydrogel that allows cultivating neural cells to repair spinal cord injuries

The biomaterial developed by the ICMM-CSIC is combined with magnetic fields to create a matrix that will allow colonization by neural cells of the damaged areas of the spinal cord
  8. Javier Méndez, ICMM-CSIC, is back from the Antarctica: "The scheduled objectives have been achieved"

The researcher is part of MICROAIRPOLAR-2 project, which aims to understand the global dispersion of microorganisms.
  9. The ICMM-CSIC creates the most porous zeolite to date

A team from the Materials Science Institute of Madrid leads a research that achieves a zeolite with extra-large pores by expanding and connecting silica chains. This material has applications in water and gas decontamination and catalysis.
  10. Nanostine, spin-off del ICMM-CISC, elected as best start-up at Foro Transfiere

It was cofound by Yves Huttel y Lidia Martínez, ICMM-CSIC researchers. Nanostine is dedicated to research, development & commercialization of high added value nanoparticles and nanostructured coatings.
