News at ICMM

  1. ICMM participates in a project to produce green hydrogen more efficiently and economically

    Álvaro Gallo
The H2umidity technology incorporates advanced materials to develop an electrolyzer that improves energy efficiency and reduces the costs of hydrogen production.
  2. Andrés Castellanos gets an ERC ‘Proof of Concept’ grant to revolutionize optical light applications

The project will revolutionize the spatial modulation of light, applicable in image projection and laser surgery. It will create ultrathin, flexible, and quasi-transparent devices that can be integrated into curved surfaces, such as smart lenses, or compact devices.
  3. Zengxin Wei, new doctor: "I am motivated by the prospect of applying research discoveries to improve our daily lives in the future"

    Zengxin Wei
Manuel Vazquez Villalabeitia and David Navas Otero directed his work on the Influence of Layer Thickness on Exchange Coupled Ferromagnetic Bilayers separated by a Non-Magnetic Spacer
  4. Sergio Puebla is defending his thesis: "the most valuable lesson has been that great things happen when you work with a diverse team"

    Sergio Puebla
His thesis, entitled 'Free-standing Transition Metal Oxide Thin Films: From Properties to Application' is about "very thin materials", he explains to a non-scientific audience.
  5. The ICMM hosts five students from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology

The ICMM-CSIC participates in the MIT-Spain program, through which the institute sends its best students to learn the innovative techniques of leading research centers.
  6. Javier Gainza, awarded by CSIC for his doctoral thesis on thermoelectric materials

    Javier gainza
The young researcher, whose thesis was supervised by José Antonio Alonso along with Norbert Nemes and Federico Serrano, has already received two awards for this work.
  7. Researchers manage to control the optical spectrum of random lasers, expanding their applications

The Materials Science Institute of Madrid (ICMM-CSIC) has successfully synthesized metallic and conductive nanoparticles of nickel and iron using a method that prevents their oxidation.
  9. The ICMM welcomes gifted students to support their science education

    Raúl Martínez y Miriam Jaafar
A 19-year-old Physics student and a 4th-year ESO student spent time at the center during June.
