Victor Hugo Sosa

Victor Hugo Sosa Fierro is joining the Simulation and Modeling of Materials Group and starting his PhD under the supervision of Silvia Gallego and Unai Atxitia. He is originally from Ecuador and earned a bachelor's degree in physics from Complutense University of Madrid. Subsequently, he pursued a master's degree in nanophysics and advanced materials at the same university.

What have you worked on so far?

During my degree and master's, I have worked on simulations of material properties and physical phenomena, but I have also conducted some experimental work related to solar cells.

What will you work on? With whom?

I will start my PhD under the supervision of Silvia Gallego and Unai Atxitia. I will work in ab initio simulations enforced in magnetic materials and permanent magnets, also we will be using artificial intelligence with a focus on Mössbauer spectroscopy.

Why did you choose ICMM?

In my first year of university, I visited the ICMM to learn about a project related to graphene. Since then, I started to develop an interest in materials. After subsequent visits to the ICMM, I realized it was a great place to continue my studies.

And a personal touch: any hobbies? What would you like to contribute to the institute?

As hobbies, I enjoy hiking and participating in recreational activities in nature, such as camping and mountaineering. Regarding contributions to the institute, I aim to foster a friendly work environment and help achieve the research objectives of my group.
