NAtalia Casais

From Buenos Aires, Argentina, Natalia Casais Spolidori decided to move to Spain just a few months ago, to continue developing both personally and professionally. She is our new officer at the International Projects Department, and she says that she's really enjoying her life change.

What have you worked on so far?
I have worked as a Project Manager in public and private organisations and scientific and technological bodies, leading strategic projects in innovation, science and technology. My work has focused on the comprehensive management of R&D&I projects, monitoring initiatives, inter-institutional coordination and building relationships with key players in the scientific, industrial and governmental sectors.

What will you be working on? With whom?
I will be working on project management within the International Projects Office alongside Belén Illana Calero, Lluís Cordon Barris and Alberto Rodríguez.

My work will focus on the comprehensive management of the project lifecycle (pre-award and post-award), ensuring compliance with deadlines, deliverables and scientific objectives; the identification and strategic analysis of international funding opportunities; and the promotion of internationalisation and inter-institutional collaboration.

Why ICMM?
I am motivated by being part of an institution committed to continuous improvement and excellence, through collaboration and working with others. I really enjoy learning, taking on new challenges and working in environments that encourage me to grow.

And on a personal note: do you have any hobbies?
I enjoy spending time outdoors: whether it’s going for a walk, doing something in nature, or even trying out activities that are a bit different from my daily routine. I’m also a film buff; I enjoy everything from classics to recent releases and discussing plots and characters. What’s more, I love travelling: getting to know new cultures, trying different foods and discovering new ways of life is something that really inspires me.

What would you like to contribute to the institute?
I can bring extensive experience in managing R&D&I projects, helping to strengthen the links between the ICMM and the scientific and technological ecosystem. Throughout my career in organisations linked to science and technology, I have developed strong listening and learning skills and flexibility, as well as an ability to work as part of a team and collaborate towards a common goal.
This experience has equipped me with skills that are well suited to the dynamics of a research institute such as the ICMM.
