The Photonic Crystals Group has a new PhD researcher: Jaime Bueno Benito is going to work alongside Sol Carretero Palacios, who will supervise his research in the field of Advanced Materials, Nanotechnology and Photonics. Meet him here.
Where do you come from?
I'm from Madrid and I have studied at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, where I did the Physics Bachelor degree and Advanced Materials, Nanotechnology and Photonics Master degree.
What have you worked on so far?
During my Bachelor's and Master's Thesis, I have been working on the modelization of solar cells optimized through plasmonic effects.
What will you work on? With whom?
I have just started my PhD under the supervision of Sol Carretero and Miguel Anaya. I will continue working on the modelization and optimization of solar cells and other light-emitting devices. For this purpose, I also intend to use machine learning tools.
Why did you choose ICMM?
I have always been interested in material science, and this is one of the best and biggest institutes of our country in this area.
And a personal touch: any hobbies? What would you like to contribute to the institute?
Practicing sports is a fundamental pillar of my life. I enjoy almost any sporting activity, although I have competed in triathlon for many years. I also love science fiction movies and books.
I would love to have the opportunity to collaborate with different renowned scientists, reaching interesting scientific results. I also hope to learn and enrich myself from other colleagues, both scientifically and personally.
