Raúl Magro Hernández just joined the Medicine and Biotechnology Group as a PhD researcher on nanothermometry by X-Ray absorption for hyperthermia. He is from Madrid and here he is answering some questions.
What have you worked on so far?
I studied Materials Engineering at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM) and later the master's in Nanophysics and advanced materials, where I did my master's thesis at the Centro de Microanálisis de Materiales, which brought me closer to the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, where I worked for 9 months in a research project 'Nanosensores de bajo coste para la detección de hidrógeno' and I got to know ICMM through some collaborations developed in the project.
What will you work on? With whom?
I will work with Ana Espinosa, in the realization of my PhD thesis by project contract, on nanothermometry by X-Ray absorption for hyperthermia. Together with Álvaro Muñoz from UCM.
Why did you choose ICMM?
I chose ICMM because I wanted to do my doctoral thesis, since I really like research and ICMM offered me the possibility to do it in an area that I have liked since the beginning of my formation, being an opportunity that I could not miss.
And a personal touch: any hobbies? What would you like to contribute to the institute?
As a hobby, I like soccer and I also play in a darts league. I would like to contribute to the ICMM with many scientific publications.
