AUTHOR: Shu Wang and Elena Galoppini - ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces and Rutgers University
WHEN: January 12 2026, 09.30h
WHERE: Salón de Actos, ICMM
ABSTRACT: The American Chemical Society (ACS) Publications publishes over 80 peer-reviewed journals covering chemistry and allied sciences, serving as a vital platform for disseminating cutting-edge research worldwide. This seminar offers a unique opportunity to gain insider perspectives on the scholarly publishing process from two experienced ACS editors: Shu Wang, Editor of ACS Applied Bio Materials, and Elena Galoppini, Deputy Editor of ACS Applied Optical Materials.
The event will be divided into two parts. In the first 30 minutes, the editors will present an overview of their respective journals, discuss best practices for manuscript preparation, and provide guidance on selecting the most suitable journal for your research. They will share professional insights on crafting compelling manuscripts that align with ACS standards, navigating the peer review process, and understanding editorial decision-making.
Following the presentation, an interactive round table discussion with students and early-career researchers will allow participants to ask detailed questions about the editorial process, manuscript handling, common pitfalls to avoid, and strategies for successful publication. This is an invaluable opportunity to learn directly from experienced editors and enhance your understanding of scholarly publishing in materials science and related fields.
All researchers, PhD students, and postdocs are welcome to attend.
