ABSTRACT: The continuous advances on material science and technology can generate social issues that should be afforded in advance. Green chemistry principia offer a good canvas for the design and optimization of nanoporous materials and its composites as well as their applications. Primarily, in this seminar, we will be on the preparation of adsorbents, like metal-organic framework using sustainable approximations that can include solvent selection, energy demanded during the preparation or starting reagents used. Then, we will explore some examples of porous materials and its composites which contain in their formulation raw materials or natural derivatives and its performances, with special emphasis in environmental remediation and energy efficient processes.

This seminar is part of the SustainableNano Seminars. The SNSSN (SustainableNano – Spanish Network on Safe and Sustainable Nanotechnologies) network comprises the leading Spanish research centres working on nanoscale research and development, with the aim of working together towards generating safe, sustainable and societally beneficial nanosciences and nanotechnologies, by involving sustainability criteria along the whole process. A focus is given to research with a perspective towards production, consumption, waste generation and management and waste recycling. We aim to achieve results within the duration of the project which facilitate change in the short term, but also to ensure a long-term impact of the network activities.
