Sandra López

Sandra López Pedregosa has just joined the ICMM in October as PhD researcher. This madrilean who likes hiking and travelling will be working at the Interdisciplinary studies based on nanoscopic systems (ESISNA) group with the STARDUST facility, and focused on the development of novel nanoparticles for photoelectrocatalytic applications

What have you worked on so far?
During my Bachelor's and Master's theses at UAM, I developed sample treatment methodologies based on carbon nanomateriales for the extraction of emerging contaminants from environmental samples.

What will you work on? With whom?
At the STARDUST facility, I will focus on the development of novel nanoparticles for photoelectrocatalytic applications under the supervision of José Ángel Martín Gago and Gonzalo Santoro.

Why ICMM?
I believe it is the ideal place to develop my research career, offering a wide variety of research topics and a strong interdisciplinary approach. It will allow me to work in a collaborative and stimulating environment.

And a personal touch: any hobbies? What would you like to contribute to the institute?
I like spending time with my friends, hiking and travelling. I enjoy meeting new people and discovering different cultures. I am deeply motivated to start this new journey and look forward to contributing to a collaborative and friendly atmosphere!
