The Materials Science Institute of Madrid celebrated its I International School about Raman spectroscopy for in-situ studies on functional materials. This event, directed by ICMM researcher José Antonio Alonso, was aimed at PhD researchers, postdoctoral visitors, university professors, researchers, and technical staff.

More than 50 researchers of all ages were gathered to learn the specific lessons of this one-day monographic course about Raman spectroscopy. Throughout the meeting, the attendees could listen to J.E. Rodrigues (ESRF, Grenoble), who spoke about General aspects of Raman spectroscopy; M.A. Bañares (ICP-CSIC), who talked about In situ studies of materials for catalysis; F. Agulló (ICMM-CSIC), whose talk was about Raman microscopy, and O. Frank (JH-Inst, Prague), who explained to the audience about Localized Raman micro-droplet in-situ spectroelectrochemistry of 2D materials.

This International School was one of the objectives within the Severo Ochoa Excellence Plan of the Materials Sciences Institute of Madrid, and the result was a huge success: the available places were sold out two weeks before the start of the course, and finally almost 70 researchers came to the ICMM to enjoy the course. Most of the attendees were researchers from Madrid, especially from the ICMM, but also the Institute of Ceramics and Glass and the Institute of Catalysis and Petrochemistry.
