The SUPREMA group of ICMM-CSIC has a new PhD researcher, Begoña Barcenilla Fernández. She's from Madrid and she will be working with Celia Castillo and Felipe Gándara. "I think it's a really good place to develop my research career", she says.
What have you worked on so far?
During my Bachelor's and Master's theses at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, I worked with MOFs and COFs, processing them into different types of composite for water remediation systems.
What will you work on? With whom?
My research will focus on developing new MOFs and introducing them into hybrid glasses, which will study the possibility of using them in environmental applications, under the supervision of Celia Castillo and Felipe Gándara.
Why ICMM?
ICMM is a leading centre for materials research, with a wide range of facilities and top researchers. I think it's a really good place to develop my research career.
And a personal touch: any hobbies? What would you like to contribute to the institute?
In my free time, I enjoy reading books, doing crafts and hiking or climbing. As a friendly person, I would like to contribute to the friendly atmosphere of the institute.
