Yilian Fernández Afonso is a new member of the Materials for Medicine and Biotechnology. She just joined the group in May as a postdoctoral researcher and she is coming from the Instituto de Nanociencia y Materiales de Aragón.
What have you worked on so far?
Synthesis, characterization and functionalization of magnetic iron oxide nanoparticles for magnetic hyperthermia and phototermia
What will you work on? With whom?
In the European Project HyPELignum with Maria del Puerto Morales in the development of new synthesis routes and characterization of conductive metallic nanoparticles for electronic applications.
Why did you choose ICMM?
The ICMM is an institute specialized in materials science, and I believe it will be a very good experience for my scientific career.
And a personal touch: any hobbies? What would you like to contribute to the institute?
I like dancing salsa and playing sports.
