  1. Stardust, the machine that recreates the death of stars and is used in nanotechnology

    Ten years ago, three research groups joined forces to create the incredible, to witness death giving birth to life, and thanks to that, they have defied laws of astrophysics.
  2. The ICMM-CSIC becomes part of Hydrogen Europe Research, a European network that promotes research in clean hydrogen

    The participation of the largest Spanish research institution in this initiative is led by the Institute of Chemical Technology (CSIC-UPV), a Severo Ochoa Center of Excellence.
  3. Piezo4Spine project holds its annual general meeting in Ferrara, Italy, with "encouraging results"

    The project, coordinated by Conchi Serrano at ICMM-CSIC, aims to provide a theraputic solution for spinal cord injuries and got a Pathfinder grant in 2023.

    The Institute of Materials Science in Madrid and the Institute of Optics are participating in a European project funded with €3.6M
  6. A researcher from the ICMM-CSIC obtains 2 million euros to develop thermal modulators that enhance the performance of batteries

    The European Union awards Miguel Muñoz Rojo an ERC Consolidator Grant with a duration of five years. His work is part of an advanced heat management research line, essential for the future electrification.
  7. Researchers discover how cells react to mechanical stimuli depending on their frequency, a step towards the advancement of nanomedicine

    A team from ICMM-CSIC publishes a key study for the development of nanomechanical markers for treating diseases
  8. Science Week at ICMM: more than 500 students enjoy its outreach activities.

    Activities for teenagers, workshops for deaf children, guided tours for both adults and children. Outreach, a central activity for us.
  9. Five students join ICMM-CSIC thanks to JAE-Intro Scholarships

    Carmen Munuera, Andrés Castellanos-Gómez, Leni Bascones, Cristina Pascual and Bernd Wicklein are working with these young researchers
