YOGENDRA KUMAR

He is from New Delhi (India) and just joined the Material Science Institute of Madrid some weeks ago. Alongside Oksana Fesenko Morozova and Rafael Pérez del Real, he is starting his PhD research, focusing on New magnetic textures in planar and three-dimensional curvilinear nanostructures. His name is Yogendra Kumar, and here you can meet him.

What have you worked on so far?

I firmly believe that an individual’s path to excellence is rooted in his/her passion for relentless pursuit of knowledge, irrespective of challenges offered by that pursuit. This pursuit of knowledge led me to complete both my undergraduate and master’s degrees in Physics from University of Delhi (DU), India. My passion for making a meaningful impact in the field of Condensed Matter Physics inspired me to undertake a master’s dissertation project entitled "Fabrication of Tunable Microwave Resonator with Barium Strontium Titanate Thin Film Deposited by Pulsed Laser Deposition Technique" under the supervision of Prof.Monika Tomar. Continuing my academic journey, I embarked on a research assistant-ship at the Special Center for Nanoscience, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), India, working under the guidance of Dr.Vinod Kumar. Building upon my research experiences, I joined the Department of Physics at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi as a project assistant. In my tenure at the Nanomagnetics & Electronic Transport Lab within the Department of Physics at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IITD), I undertook a project that led to the fabrication of a Planar Hall effect-based magnetic sensor with the sensitivity of 0.119mV/mT.

What will you work on? With whom?

Oksana Fesenko Morozova and Rafael Pérez del Real are my thesis supervisor. My job includes design, fabrication and electrical & magnetic characterization of the planar and three-dimensional curvilinear nanostructures. Then finally get some article published.

Why did you choose ICMM?

I chose ICMM to do my PhD thesis because my interaction with my supervisors and the possibility to do my thesis in  area of nanomagnetism since it confers my area of interest.

And a personal touch: any hobbies? What would you like to contribute to the institute?

I like to do sketching or maybe cooking in my free time. Secondly I would like to contribute to ICMM by doing some good novel work.
