The Institute of Materials Science of Madrid (ICMM), CSIC, has received this last week of January the visit of its International Scientific Advisory Board. Composed by prestigious international scientists in the area of Materials Sciences, its objective is to evaluate the work of the center to certify the excellence in the research carried out here and thus contribute to its improvement.
During the meeting, professor Luis M. Liz-Marzan (Director of CIC Biomagune, San Sebastián), Fabio Biscarini (Professor at the University of Modena (Italy)), Belita Koiller (Professor of Physics at Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro) and María Teresa Fernández Díaz (Group Leader at Institut Laue-Langevin, Grenoble, France) have been able to assess the changes experienced by the center in recent years.
The management team, with José Ángel Martín Gago as director and with the vice-directors of Jesús Ricote and Pilar Aranda, has shown the committee the changes introduced in the institute to display, in this way, the evolution within different indicators of scientific quality. Likewise, they have made public the plan of the Madrid Materials Science Institute for the next four years.
Before dismissing the committee, who will make a report about the scientific activity of the center, they have visited some of the center's most cutting-edge laboratories and those in which special emphasis will be placed on their improvement over the years coming.
