Yan Shunya

Originally from China, Shunya Yan declares herself passionate about Spain and of synchrotron facilities. This is the reason why this new postdoctoral researcher joined, last August, the Spanish Line (Spanish CRG BM25-SpLine beamline) of the European synchrotron located in the French city of Grenoble.

Where do you come from?

I came from China, but I already stayed in Spain (before in Barcelona) for 4 years. I love Spain so much!

What have you worked on so far?
As a new member, the first thing is the paper work, after that I started reading papers, plus I also made some friends, I am so happy with that.

What will you work on? With whom?
I join in the SpLine group, and I will work with José Ángel Martín Gago and Juan Rubio-Zuazo.

Why ICMM?
During my PhD, I discovered my passion for synchrotron facilities, so I decided to pursue a postdoctoral position at a synchrotron center to further deepen my understanding of these amazing instruments. I once had the opportunity to do experiments at the SpLine, where I was impressed by their advanced experimental setups and trully enjoyed the working atmosphere.
After graduation, I submitted my CV to them, and I am very grateful for the opportunity they offered me.  The ICMM is the largest materials research institute in Spain, home to many outstanding scientists who have carried out exciting and inspiring work.  I feel deeply honored to join them and work alongside such colleagues. I have already learned a great deal and I am confident that I will have a wonderful postdoctoral experience here.

And a personal touch: any hobbies? What would you like to contribute to the institute?

I like hiking, traveling and delicious food. Well, i can organize some outdoor activities like hiking.
