The Material Science Institute of Madrid (ICMM-CSIC) hosted in September (19-20th) the 7th Spanish Conference on Biomedical Applications of Nanomaterials (SBAN). The ICMM organizes this event alongside the Instituto de Química Médica, the Instituto de Nanociencia y Materiales de Aragón, the Zaragoza University, and IMDEA nanociencia. Around 80 researchers come to our centre
"This is an unique opportunity for discussing the leading-edge research and progress in the field of Nanomedicine", explains Puerto Morales, the event's organizer. The conference received around 80 attendees and covered the main aspects of this field by leading researchers working in Spain and abroad and had a broad audience composed of researchers with different backgrounds, from chemistry and biology to engineering and medicine.
The plenary lecturers for this meeting were Susel Del Sol (Instituto de Nanociencia y Materiales de Aragón), Daniel García González (Universidad Carlos III de Madrid), Anna Laromaine (Institut Ciència de Materials de Barcelona (ICMAB-CSIC)), Alejandro Paredes (Queen’s University, Belfast, UK) and Rosario Sanchez (Centro Pfizer – Universidad de Granada – Junta de Andalucía de Genómica e Investigación Oncológica (GENYO)).
Regarding the awards, Elena Fernández, from the Gregorio Marañón Hospital, got the Best Poster award; Sandra Jimenez got the Best Flash Presentation and the Best Oral Talk was for Juan París, from the Instituto de Investigación Biomédica de Málaga.
