ANA M. ZAMORA-PHD STUDENT-COMPUTATIONAL MATERIALS LABORATORY-

Her name is Ana María Zamora-Vinaroz and she was born in Beniel (Murcia) and studied in the University of Murcia and the University of Granada. Now, she is a member at the Materials Science Institute of Madrid (ICMM-CSIC), where she is a PhD researcher at the NanoTrib group.

What have you worked on so far?

I am a quite interdisciplinar researcher. Before joining NanoTrib, I worked on Radiation Physics, applied to both Medical and Condensed Matter Physics.

What will you work on? With whom?

I will do my doctorate thesis on "Foundations of friction: from energy dissipation to nanotribology", supervised by Prof. Guilherme Vilhena.

Why did you choose ICMM?

When I joined NanoTrib, the group was just moving to ICMM, which I consider also a nice place to develop my thesis.

And a personal touch: any hobbies? What would you like to contribute to the institute?

I like hiking on nature and listening to music. I want to become an expert on molecular dynamics simulations regarding both energy dissipation and nanomanipulation processes, to do my bit to enhance our knowledge on material science and phenomena at the nanoscale.
