MARYAM HOSSEINPOAR

Maryam Hosseinpour is an Iranian researcher who just joined the Photonic Crystal Group as a research assistant. "I have a contract to determine the nature of ultra-thin layer MoS2 deposits", she explains.

What have you worked on so far?

My Ph.D. thesis focused on the optical properties of nanomaterials, especially the synthesis, and characterization of flexible radiation detection sensors based on scintillation and photoluminescence materials as well as photocatalytic properties of nanomaterials. The purpose of my work was the improvement of the optical properties of nanomaterials through band gap engineering by doping the structure and the production of heterostructure nanocomposites.  In addition, for my master's thesis, I studied the electrical transport properties of graphene using a semi-classical Boltzmann approximation. It is worth mentioning that as a part of my doctoral program, I investigated the powder injection molding (PIM) method for metal matrix nanocomposite fabrication. I also gained good experiences in the fabrication and investigation of the optical properties of metal oxide thin films produced via the high vacuum reactive thermal evaporation method during my undergraduate.

Why did you choose ICMM?

I believe, ICMM is one of the leading research institutions in Spain and Europe. It is a fantastic opportunity for me to expand my knowledge and experience, since I get to work with scientists who are at the forefront of their fields and working on cutting edge research topics.

And a personal touch, your hobbies?

I enjoy spending time in nature, traveling, reading, and watching movies. Another activity I like to practice is calligraphy in my native Farsi language. Another pleasure of mine is baking. I also enjoy hanging out with my family and friends
