Abstract: The thesis explores two areas of two-dimensional materials, strain and solid ionic substrate (LaF3). In the first project, a novel automated strain setup was introduced by testing it in Differential Reflectance, Photoluminescence, Raman spectroscopies, Piezoresistivity, and photoresponsivity with monolayer MoS2. In the second project, we deduced the strain-dependent complex refractive indices of the monolayer, bilayer, and trilayer TMDCs by using Fresnel law-based model and Lorentz oscillators. Last project is related to substrate engineering and ionic-based LaF3 substrate was used to the gate and to investigate how efficiently it changes the optical properties of monolayer and bilayer MoS2 flakes compared to previous methods.
