News at ICMM

  2. Researchers create new graphene-based devices to advance future cellular therapy for multiple sclerosis patients

    Esclerosis múltiple
These new devices utilize graphene-derived nanomaterials that promote the anti-inflammatory function of suppressive myeloid cells. The study demonstrates the capability of these nanomaterials as successful nanotechnological tools for autoimmune diseases or cancer.
  3. Researchers create a hydrogel that allows cultivating neural cells to repair spinal cord injuries

    Regeneración neural
The biomaterial developed by the ICMM-CSIC is combined with magnetic fields to create a matrix that will allow colonization by neural cells of the damaged areas of the spinal cord
  4. Javier Méndez, ICMM-CSIC, is back from the Antarctica: "The scheduled objectives have been achieved"

    Javier Méndez en Byers
The researcher is part of MICROAIRPOLAR-2 project, which aims to understand the global dispersion of microorganisms.
  5. The ICMM-CSIC creates the most porous zeolite to date

Los científicos Miguel Camblor y Huajian Yu analizan una muestra en su laboratorio
A team from the Materials Science Institute of Madrid leads a research that achieves a zeolite with extra-large pores by expanding and connecting silica chains. This material has applications in water and gas decontamination and catalysis.
  6. Nanostine, spin-off del ICMM-CISC, elected as best start-up at Foro Transfiere

Open Call for Deep Tech Start-ups’
It was cofound by Yves Huttel y Lidia Martínez, ICMM-CSIC researchers. Nanostine is dedicated to research, development & commercialization of high added value nanoparticles and nanostructured coatings.
  7. ICMM-CSIC collaborates with the European Space Agency to protect communication satellites from radiation

    Isabel Montero, en su laboratorio
A laboratory at ICMM-CSIC simulates the space conditions to enhance protection against extraterrestrial energetic radiations. These efforts, which enhance communications throughout Europe, also seek new formulas to increase the power of radiofrequency devices onboard satellites.
  8. ICMM-CSIC is searching the 'kitmon', a hybrid qubit that will allow progress towards more robust quantum computing

    OrangeQS-2366
The ICMM-CSIC participates in a European project to develop a new type of qubit, a hybrid between superconductors and semiconductors, that reduces quantum errors.
  9. Researchers create graphene-like materials with biomass and clay to boost the energy transition

    Margarita Darder en su laboratorio
The study, which has used sucrose as a model, allows us to reduce energy consumption and time spent in the development of new materials
  10. Ana Barra, new doctor: "Perseverance and resilience are extremely necessary to do scientific research"

    Ana Barra thesis defense
She defended her PhD at the beginning of the year in Portugal after working with Eduardo Ruiz-Hitzky at ICMM-CSIC.
