Rubén Colmenarejo Martín is one of the most wanted guys at the Material Science Institute of Madrid: he is our new IT technician since June.
Where do you come from?
I'm from 'Madriz' (even if I am not a 'gato', I am a Madrilenian) and I live close to the ICMM. I have a somewhat peculiar professional profile since I have training in Electronics, experience in communications networks, administrative management, accounting and technical "client" assistance. Yes, the "normal" thing that a "Computer Technician" does.
What have you worked on so far?
Before joining the ICMM, I worked for 12 years as a support and customer service technician in a French company dedicated to rental servers and Internet services (mail services, web pages, databases, AI, etc.). Before that, I worked as an Administrator in a City Hall for a few years, and previously I worked as a network management technician in a major Spanish company.
What will you work on?
Here I'll be the Computer Technician
Why did you choose the ICMM?
If I am clear, I chose it because it is kind of close to my home.
And a personal touch: any hobbies?
I am from the "ball" generation (those who are from my generation or previous will know what I mean), and I have the hobbies of that time, that is, role-playing games, board games, video games. I also like science fiction novels, epic-fantastic narratives. Now the difficult thing is making time.
