Javier Méndez, a senior scientist at the Institute of Materials Science in Madrid, embarked almost by chance on an exciting adventure: a trip to Antarctica as part of the MicroAirPolar project of the Autonomous University of Madrid. How did he get there? What was his material researcher role on a polar air sampling project? And, the most striking thing... how has the experience been?
