Laura Rego, IUPAP

Laura Rego Cabezas, a postdoctoral researcher at the Madrid Institute of Materials Science (ICMM-CSIC), has received the 'IUPAP Early Career Scientist Prize in Atomic, Molecular and Optical Physics 2026', a prestigious international recognition that distinguishes early-career researchers for the excellence and impact of their scientific contributions .

The award is granted by the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics (IUPAP) and recognizes outstanding scientific contributions advancing atomic, molecular and optical physics .

The prize acknowledges Rego's contributions to the field of Atomic, Molecular and Optical (AMO) physics, particularly for her pioneering work in uncovering new properties of light beams generated through high-harmonic generation, including structured polarization and self-torque, as well as their applications in manipulating matter on ultrafast timescales .

Since joining the ICMM-CSIC, Laura Rego has been developing her research in the QUDYMA group, contributing to the institute's research lines in ultrafast physics and light-matter interaction
