Celia Castillo, a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Materials Science of Madrid, has just received the Distinction for Emerging Researchers in Chemistry, awarded by the Madrid Territorial Section of the Royal Spanish Chemical Society.
This is the second edition of these awards, which seek to recognize the scientific trajectory of early-career researchers who stand out for their quality, innovation, and leadership in the field of chemistry. The distinguished researcher will receive an award and a certificate of recognition.
Celia Castillo Blas works on crystalline MOF-type materials (Metal-Organic Frameworks). After a postdoctoral stay at the University of Cambridge with Professor Thomas Bennett, she has been part of SUPREMA since 2025, when she rejoined the group where she completed her doctoral thesis to start a new line of research focused on the field of hybrid glasses. She now works alongside Felipe Gándara and predoctoral researchers Begoña Barcenilla and Alejandro Silva Ybarnegaray.
In addition to Celia Castillo Blas, the distinction has also been awarded to Thomas Rigotti, from the Autonomous University of Madrid; Ana Sánchez Grande, from the Complutense University of Madrid; Natalia Sanz del Olmo, from the University of Alcalá; and Beata María Szydlowska, from IMDEA Nanociencia and the UAM.
The Jury that selected the distinguished researchers was composed of Agustí Lledós Falcó, RSEQ 2023 Medalist; Alicia Casitas Montero, RSEQ Young Researcher Award, 'Group Leader' category, 2024; María Cuartero Botia, RSEQ Young Researcher Award, 'Group Leader' category, 2024; and Guillermo Mínguez Espallargas, RSEQ Research Excellence Award, 2024.
