Jose Angel Fernandez Roldan is a new Talento CM Researcher who joined the Materials Science Institute of Madrid (ICMM-CSIC) as part of the nanomagnetism team. He selected that group "due to its rich, versatile background and complementary collaborations".
Where you come from?:
I have been previously investigating peculiar magnetic curvilinear effects at HZDR in the beautiful city of Dresden, and innovative three-dimensional (3D) geometries in the University of Asturias, while I am originally from the beautiful Castille and Leon.
What have you worked on so far?:
So far my research has been dedicated to study magnetic nanomaterials for innovative, sustainable applications in nanoelectronics, emerging computing paradigms and life sciences. In other works, I do research for developing new technologies for a more sustainable future for everyone.
What will you work on? With whom?:
Right now I will focus especially on curvature and geometrical effects of magnetic materials for emerging computing paradigms and other versatile applications. While I am in one team right now, I am always open for collaborations.
Why did you choose ICMM?
If you dream big, go for better. ICMM is one of the most internationally recognised centres in Materials Science in the Campus of excellence UAM + CSIC, a melting pot location offering countless opportunities for interesting scientific discussions with world-leading experts in manifold topics.
And a personal touch: any hobbies? What would you like to contribute to the institute?:
I love photography, reading, history and theatre. Actually, I have already contributed to outreach activities like the day of Europe. Such a fun event! Besides, I heard about some scientific theatre play at the institute... That could be my place!
