Loredana Viscardi joins ICMM as an Erasmus student for six month

From January to July, Loredana Viscardi will be part of 2D Foundry group as an Erasmus student coming from Salerno (Italy). She will be working alongside Andrés Castellanos-Gómez.

What have you worked on so far?

I am a PhD student at the University of Salerno in Italy. I have worked on the investigation of the electrical properties of 1D and 2D materials in field-effect devices and their digital electronic applications, such as non-volatile memories and logical gates.

What will you work on? 

I will be working on the fabrication and optoelectronic characterization of devices based on 2D TMDs.

Why did you choose ICMM?

I was looking for a research institute to continue my PhD project, and when I reached out to Andres' group, I realized that this was the right place for me and the activity I would like to pursue. Even though I have been here for a short time, I am increasingly convinced that I made the right choice because of what the ICMM can contribute to my research activities. 

And a personal touch: any hobbies? What would you like to contribute to the institute?

I really enjoy spending my free time in open spaces, contemplating nature and its magical atmosphere. I like traveling, visiting new places, and discovering their history, and I also enjoy drawing. I hope to make a valuable contribution to the institute by engaging in interesting activities with the other researchers of the 2D Foundry group and adding my expertise in the field to the projects I'll be working on here.
