Jorge Burgos Rodríguez

Jorge Burgos Rodríguez is a postdoctoral researcher who joined the Photonic crystal Group as part of the ADAPTATION project. He is working alongside Pedro David García and Cefe López on establishing radiation cooling power measurement systems, fabrication of composite materials with radiation cooling properties, as well as the study of the optical response of these materials in VIS and IR spectrum and their cooling power under different conditions.

Where do you come from?

I studied the Materials Engineering degree and Nanophysics and Advanced Materials Master at the UCM. Also, I did my doctoral thesis at the Universitat Jaume I in Castellón de la Plana, on the improvement of direct absorption solar collectors using nanofluids.

What have you worked on so far?

I started my research career during my master's thesis, carrying out the fabrication and characterisation of perovskite solar cells. After that, the main objective of my PhD was to develop novel materials capable of improving the absorption, storage and heat transfer properties of the conventional fluids used in direct absorption solar technologies.

Why did you choose ICMM?

It gives me the opportunity to grow as a researcher in a centre and with a group of scientists who have a lot to offer as well as a consolidated experience in a new field for me, photonics.

And a personal touch: any hobbies? What would you like to contribute to the institute?

I would like to contribute with everything I´ve learned during these years working in different topics and with my passion to keep learning new things
