Rafael Morales

Rafael Morales Márquez comes from a small town north of Córdoba called Pozoblanco. He studied Biochemistry at the University of Seville. Later, he completed a master's degree in Molecular Nanoscience and Nanotechnology at the Autonomous University of Madrid.

What have you worked on so far?

During my undergraduate studies, I worked on the synthesis of COFs for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases. Later, for my master's thesis, I had the opportunity to work with semiconductor nanoparticles for diagnostic purposes. This served as a preliminary step for the experiments I will be conducting in my doctoral research.

What will you work on? With whom?

While at this center, I will be working with hybrid nanoparticles for their use in the detection and treatment of various diseases, such as cancer. In collaboration with Bea Hernández, I will be focusing on the hybrid nanoparticle aspect, while with Ana Espinosa, I will be delving into the more biological aspects of this study.

Why did you choose ICMM?

I chose this center because of its welcoming and comfortable environment, ideal for taking the initial steps in the field of science. From the very beginning, both Bea and Ana have fostered a positive working atmosphere, making me feel comfortable in this complex scientific world.

And a personal touch: any hobbies? What would you like to contribute to the institute?

In my free time, I love spending hours listening to music and engaging in sports. I also enjoy traveling to experience new adventures and natural landscapes.I can contribute a positive work environment and a strong motivation to work towards achieving our future goals.
