Concluye el curso de verano CSIC-UIMP 'La medicina del futuro: Nanomedicina', con participación del ICMM

The Nanomed-CSIC Summer School has just concluded the second edition of the CSIC-UIMP course "The Medicine of the Future: Nanomedicine," organized by the Nanomedicine Connection HUB-CSIC, coordinated by Professor Puerto Morales, a research professor at the Institute of Materials Science of Madrid (ICMM), CSIC.

The course brought together scientific experts from across Spain in various fields of nanomedicine. "The goal of the Nanomed-CSIC Summer School is to stimulate the audience's interest in deepening or acquiring new knowledge in different aspects of nanomedicine," explained the researcher. In fact, the sessions, which took place from June 26th to 30th at the Magdalena Palace in Santander, were targeted at researchers and students at any stage of basic or advanced scientific training.

"The Medicine of the Future: Nanomedicine" provided an overview of the latest international advances in areas such as personalized nanomedicine, nanopharmaceuticals for the heart, nanomaterials for clinical diagnosis, the use of nanoparticles in clinical diagnosis, the synthesis and functionalization of inorganic nanoparticles, as well as the biological identity of nanomaterials and antimicrobial nanomedicine.

The training included two plenary lectures (an opening lecture given by Luis Manuel Liz Marzán and a closing lecture by Mónica López Fanarraga), two daily thematic talks with audience questions, and at the end of each day, roundtable discussions that encouraged and fostered active student participation. The objective was to provide a comprehensive overview of the opportunities and challenges presented by nanomedicine in the four areas of study covered in the school: nanoTherapy, nanoDelivery, nanoSensors, and nanoDiagnostics, summarizing the main advances in the application of nanomedicine.
