Ana Fuentes Manjón has joined the ICMM on last November with an important mission: to give support to Reinforce Research Infrastructures within the European Strategy Forum on Research Infrastructures (ESFRI). She will be hosted by the Heterostructures for Optics and Optoelectronics group.
Where do you come from?
I am from Spain and recently completed my Research Master in Molecular Medicine in Rotterdam (Erasmus University).
What have you worked on so far?
My background is in biomedical science and molecular medicine, with experience in experimental work, molecular techniques, data analysis, and translational research. I have worked at several international research institutes in the Netherlands and Denmark, gaining experience in molecular oncology and immunology while completing my bachelor’s and master’s theses.
What will you work on? With whom?
I will work within ESFRI and contribute to strengthening European research infrastructures through strategic planning, monitoring, and policy harmonisation in collaboration with European partners.
Why ICMM?
ICMM offers a uniquely interdisciplinary environment that bridges research, innovation, and European-level scientific collaboration. It’s an ideal place to grow scientifically and professionally, while contributing to projects that have a real impact.
And a personal touch: any hobbies? What would you like to contribute to the institute?
Outside of work, I enjoy creative outlets like painting, photography, writing, and music. Science is creative too, but sometimes my brain just needs a different kind of challenge. I hope to bring that same energy to the institute through collaboration, fresh perspectives, and innovative thinking.
