Alejandra García

Our Knowledge Transfer Office (KTC) is growing. Alejandra García has also joined recently this department, along with Alejandro Sánchez. Both started at the ICMM this february, but she had already known our institute before as PhD.

Where do you come from?

I am from Madrid, my whole family is from here.

What have you worked on so far?

I have a degree in Chemistry from Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. I did my thesis at the ICMM on the study of materials for supercapacitors, and then two postdoctoral fellowships at the Instituto Superior Técnico (Lisbon) and the Instituto de Tecnología Química (Valencia) on energy storage and photoelectrocatalysis. For the last nine years, I have been working on the design and development of new materials, mainly focused on energy storage, at the company Gnanomat.

What will you work on?

I will work on knowledge and technology transfer, collaborating in the exploitation of new products, promoting all developments carried out at the ICMM, and identifying and protecting knowledge. I hope to contribute with my experience and vision, having gone through all the stages from basic laboratory research to the launch of new products on the market.

Why ICMM?

I did my PhD at the ICMM, so I know the centre and the quality and potential of its research. Furthermore, my entire research career has been devoted to the study of materials for energy storage.
For me, this is a new stage that I am looking forward to, and what better place to do it than somewhere that was once my home.

And a personal touch: any hobbies?

I enjoy sports, practise Pilates and CrossFit, go hiking in the mountains, travel as much as I can, and love discovering new places, cultures, and foods.
