Angewandte Chemie-International Edition

2D coronene-based networks have been synthesized by intramolecular rearrangements and subsequent coupling of sumanene precursors deposited on a hot Au(111) substrate. This approach paves the way for synthesizing organometallic and covalent low-dimensional nanoarchitectures by exploiting the intramolecular transformation of molecular precursors and their subsequent

Olson, Subrata Kundu*, Bilal R. Kaafarani*, Ali Trabolsi*

Angewandte Chemie-International Edition

In this study, two isoindigo-functionalized covalent organic frameworks (I-TTA and I-TG) were synthesized using a microwave-assisted method. By modulating core planarity, distinct morphological variations were achieved, with the highly crystalline, planar sheet-like I-TTA material standing out.

The ICMM gets 2 ERC Synergy Grants to develop the electronics for the future

Mar García-Hernández and Andrés Castellanos-Gómez will use their experience in two-dimensional materials on two international projects worth 10 and 14 million euros, respectively. García-Hernández's project proposes a revolution in electronics, creating a novel metamaterials platform that opens the door to new devices with lower energy consumption (and also quantum devices at room temperature); while Castellanos will develop ultra-thin and flexible electronics that can be integrated into rough or curved surfaces, such as skin or other biological structures.
