Maria Moita

A very smiling predoctoral researcher has arrived from the beautiful city of Coimbra, Portugal. She is Maria Moita, and she has recently joined the Supramolecular, Polymeric and Reticular Materials (SUPREMA) group.

What have you worked on so far?
My master's thesis was about CIGS solar cells. Then, I did an internship at Italian Institute of Technology of Milan (IIT) about perovskite solar cells, and another in the Interuniversity Microelectronics Centre (IMEC), in Belgium, where I worked in a group that would use machine learning to detect defects on semiconductor wafers. In the last year, I worked in the Institute for Systems and Computer Engineering, Technology and Science (INESCTEC), in Porto, where I was developing an optical sensor to detect nitrates.

What will you work on? With whom?
I will work on the development of nanophotonic structures composed of J-aggregates for light harvesting in the scope of the ADAPTATION project with Sara Núñez Sanchez.

Why ICMM?
Because it seemed to be a place with a lot of opportunities, interesting lectures and a good environment, where I could expand my network and learn a lot of new things!

And a personal touch: any hobbies? What would you like to contribute to the institute?
I have several different hobbies, I go to dance classes, I play violin and sing! Sometimes I also like to draw and read!
I would like to be able to bring good results from my research and to contribute to more innovation in ICMM!
