ICMM dispose of singular facilities that although designed, constructed and managed by individual groups, the instruments are open to the scientific community in the frame of different European projects

Spline

BM25-SpLine/ICMM is the Spanish CRG beamline at the ESRF (Grenoble, France) funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation and managed by ICMM. It is dedicated to structural investigations using hard X-ray scattering mostly in materials science, specialized on the combination of diffraction and spectroscopy techniques. The beamline incorporates state-of-the-art equipment for experiments in different areas as physics, chemistry, materials science, biology, environmental sciences, and cultural heritage. In particular, a worldwide unique set-up devoted to the simultaneous combination of grazing incidence X-ray diffraction and hard X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (up to 15 keV). Also, allocates a specialized set-up for the combination of X-ray diffraction and X-ray absorption spectroscopy. The beamline offers around 5000 hours of beamtime per year to the national and international research community.

Stardust y José Ángel Martín GagoA world-wide unique modular Ultra high vacuum machine devoted to the fabrication and characterization of highly controlled nanoparticles with high yield. They are produced in gas phase with high purity, controlled size and stoichiometry and they can be collected in the desired amount (thickness <500 nm) on arbitrary surfaces for different uses. A NFFA-EU program allows access to Scientists from different countries to use this facility for covering surfaces with nanostructured materials for catalysis, photo-electro-catalysis, advanced sensors, virus deactivation or create plasmonic structures.
