Ph.D in Physics from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM), she is a specialist in growth and characterization of thin layer materials deposited using CVD and PVD techniques, as well as in various surface functionalization methods. She is currently researching coatings based on zinc oxides doped with metals (Ag, Cu, Zr,...) for photocatalytic applications and to obtain clean energy.

Author of over 90 original scientific articles focused on the synthesis and characterization of hard coatings and metal oxides grown by reactive magnetron sputtering and thermal and plasma-assisted CVD techniques. The studied materials have been grown both in single layer, as well as in multilayers and nanostructured layers. She has been an invited speaker at various international and national conferences and is the holder of two Research Prizes awarded in Spain by the Domingo Martínez Foundation (1990 and 1992). In addition to the aforementioned merits, she has been a professor in the Department of Applied Physics at the UAM, teaching undergraduate and doctorate classes on topics related to semiconductors, electronic materials and thin films. She has co-directed five doctoral theses, as well as different research works related to R&D projects, under contract with Companies (VETROTEX-SAINT GOBAIN, CIDAUT, ISOFOTON) and with various public research organizations in Spain and abroad.
