Dr. I. Palacio career focuses on the field of 2D materials applied to nanoscience and nanotechnology. Her main line of research is devoted to graphene, and more recently other 2D materials, and comprises from fundamental physicochemical studies at the atomic scale to novel technological applications of these materials. The research is focused in the development of new strategies to overcome the drawbacks in optoelectronics and biosensing graphene technologies. She has a broad knowledge of diverse surface characterization techniques including spectroscopies and microscopies, being XPS and STM the main working tools. She also has explored another line of research dedicated to on-surface chemistry and bottom-up strategies for the growth and further characterization of nanostructures.
