Verónica López joins the Nanostructured Hybrid, Biohybrid and Porous Materials Group as a Research Assistant

Verónica López López developed a strong interest in zeolites during an internship at ICMM. That interest continued to grow, and she has now returned to the institute as a Research Assistant. Originally from Madrid, she joined the Nanostructured Hybrid, Biohybrid and Porous Materials (NHBPM) group in April.

What have you worked on so far? 

My previous research focused on cathode materials for aqueous zinc-ion batteries, as well as catalytic materials and electrolytes for aluminium–air batteries. I also worked with zeolites during an undergraduate internship, which is actually what first brought me to ICMM.

What will you work on? 

I will be working with Miguel Camblor on the synthesis, modification and characterisation of extra-large-pore zeolites for the catalytic removal of persistent contaminants from water.

Why ICMM?

I previously worked at ICMM during my undergraduate internship due to my strong interest in zeolites. I am familiar with the institute and the people, so I believe it's a great place to grow as a researcher.

And a personal touch: any hobbies?

 I enjoy sports, especially rugby and swimming (I'm currently training at a swimming club). I also like visiting museums, going to the theatre, reading and hiking with friends.

What would you like to contribute to the institute?  

Besides contributing to the research, I would like to help create a good and supportive environment in the lab.
