Quantum Information, Spacetime Simulation, and Quantum Topological Matter (QuIST IX)

The international competition to build the first practical universal quantum computer is becoming increasingly intense. Countries worldwide are investing heavily to secure a leading position in the future technological frontier of quantum computing. Unlike quantum computing based on the quantum circuit model, topological quantum computing can tolerate errors from local perturbations with high efficiency and requires fewer physical qubits. As a result, it has become a key focus of global research for realizing universal quantum computing. Topological quantum states, the foundation of topological quantum computing, are an emerging frontier field that broadens our understanding of matter and has extensive potential applications, including highly robust topological quantum storage and topological quantum computers. Quantum gravity, the quantization of gravity, is considered the "holy grail" of theoretical physics and one of the ultimate problems. Although these fields seem unrelated, they are profoundly interconnected. Therefore, interdisciplinary research across these fields can aid in developing theories, constructing models, addressing open questions within each field, revealing new physics, stimulating new theories, and proposing new approaches to realizing topological quantum computing.

To provide researchers from home and abroad an opportunity for discussion and learning, we sincerely invite experts active in quantum information, spacetime, and topological matter to share the latest research developments and use this conference as an opportunity to foster international cooperation and exchange in these fields. The conference aims to provide a platform for researchers to present forward-looking ideas and discuss key technologies.

The QuIST Conference is an annual series. As planned, the 9th "Quantum Information, Spacetime Simulation, and Quantum Topological Matter" conference will be held at The Material Science Institute of Madrid, ICMM-CSIC. The event is organized by ICMM-CSIC and Quantum Mads, co-organized by Yau Mathematical Sciences Center at Tsinghua University, Chongqing University, Zhejiang University, and Hangzhou Normal University. The Best Poster Award is sponsored by MDPI, the academic open-access publisher.

We warmly welcome all experts to actively participate in the conference. To confirm your attendance, please register online at https://quantum-mads.com/events/  with the following information:

Hotel Booking
Participants are kindly requested to book their own accommodation. July is a highly touristic season with mass-attendance events, and hotel prices can rise rapidly. We recommend participants to book their accommodation well in advance.
Geographical setup:
The ICMM-CSIC, where the conference takes place, is located inside the UAM (Universidad Autónoma de Madrid) campus, outside the city, with good train and bus connections to Madrid downtown. You will receive more info about the location of the conference and transportation means later.
We highly recommend to book a room in a hotel in Madrid downtown, at walking distance from the Cercanías train stations Sol and Atocha, which have direct and fast train connection (25 min.) to the UAM campus, where the ICMM-CSIC is located. An indicative and incomplete list of hotels is:

  • Hotel NH Atocha
  • Hotel Tryp Atocha
  • Hotel Mora
  • Hotel Mediodia
  • Hotel Ilunion Pío XII
  • Hotel Chamartín The One
