Alejandro José Silva Ybarnegaray comes from La Paz (Bolivia) and he is the new PhD student in the SUPREMA group under the direction of Felipe Gándara and Celia Castillo. Enthusiast of art, he likes painting and drawing so much and he warns that is not strange to see him doodling something.
What have you worked on so far?
I'm starting work on MOF materials.
What will you work on? With whom?
'Covalent and metalorganic frameworks for water purification of pharmaceutical contaminants', under the direction of Felipe Gándara and Celia Castillo.
Why ICMM?
I've been in and out of the ICMM between internships and end of master's theses so I knew this would be the first place I would look for a PhD opportunity, and I found it!
And a personal touch: any hobbies? What would you like to contribute to the institute?
I like painting and drawing illustrations. Anyone who's met me knows I'm almost always doodling something or thinking about something to draw, so in general I'd say I'm very interested in art. As for what I want to contribute to the institute, apart from my work in research, is to help build a friendly and open space; I'd like to consider myself an approachable person, with firm positions in favour of equality and social change.
