Bernd Wicklein is a Tenured Scientist at the Materials Science Institute of Madrid (ICMM-CSIC) dedicated to biomass-derived functional materials for energy and environmental applications. This includes the valorization of biomass, the study of nanocomposite materials based on renewable polymers and their exploration in tribo/piezoelectric nanoenergy generation, green electronics and smart insulation systems. Within this research line, he co-organized dedicated symposia at the EMRS Fall 2015, MRS Spring 2018 and 2024 CMD31 meetings and contributed with 50 peer-reviewed publications to the generation of knowledge. He has supervised more than 25 graduate and under-graduate students, and currently, 2 on-going PhD projects. Bernd Wicklein was a Ramón y Cajal, Juan de la Cierva and JIN researcher as well as a Visiting Professor at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, KAIST (2022/23). He earned his MSc degree from Stuttgart University and his PhD title from the Autonomous University of Madrid, following a postdoctoral period at Stockholm University. Currently, he is the principal investigator of a national (PID2023) and a consolidation project (CNS2023) focused on 3D printing of piezo/triboelectric polymer composites
