The ICMM aims to be an enthusiastic center, characterized by a hectic activity. A demonstration of this dynamism is a new initiative coordinated from our Communication Office. It is a pleasure to present our quarterly NEWSLETTER, in which we intend to collect the most relevant news related to ICMM, keeping a record of our relentless scientific activity. For the first issue we exceptionally have included a selection of the scientific milestones achieved and the memorable moments that have occurred throughout 2023.
This year, one of the highlights was the ICMM Days. This event offered a unique opportunity for us to come together, exchange ideas, and enhance our understanding of each other's contributions: who we are, and who we want to be. Most importantly, it was a time to join as a community which is made of people from all professional categories, underlining the notion that our life at the center transcends just science. This event served as a reminder of the rich and multifaceted nature of our synergetic environment that we would like to create at ICMM.
Our institute is undergoing a remarkable transformation. We are evolving into a more dynamic hub, enriched by an influx of young talent, fresh ideas, and innovative research. Remarkably, we might be the only research center within CSIC to have welcomed 13 new tenured scientists (8 of them from other institutions) and 3 ‘doctors Laborales’ in just one year. This means about a 10% increase in the ICMM faculty members, a rate of growth that is quite extraordinary for a well-established CSIC center. Integrating these younger researchers into ICMM shall be an exciting challenge for all that we actively encourage from the direction. We extend a warm welcome to all our new members.
I trust you will find this first edition of our newsletter, showcasing our accomplishments in 2023, both informative and engaging. As we look forward to 2024, it promises to be a year full of potential and achievements. I am eager to learn about your successes and experiences through this new communication platform in the coming year.
