Pablo Martínez Martínez

Pablo Martínez Martínez was born in La Palma (Canary Islands) and studied at La Laguna University (ULL). Then, he came to Madrid and studied for his Masters degree at Autonomous University of Madrid. Now, he is developing his PhD thesis alongside Guilherme Vilhena.

What have you worked on so far?

Exotic heat transport at the single molecule level with all-atom NEMD simulations.

What will you work on? With whom?

I will study exotic heat transport at the single molecule level as part of my PhD research. The ultimate goal is to chemically engineer molecular devices that allow to control energy flow at the nanoscale. I will be exploring these systems with Dr. Guilherme Vilhena through all-atom molecular dynamics to a) understand their transport properties as well as to b) improve their theoretical description through quantum-mechanically derived force fields.

Why did you choose ICMM?

ICMM is especially suited to develop my PhD reseach as it allows research transfer within the field given the vast number of researchers and materials explored at  the institute that could help engineer heat transport at the nanoscale.

And a personal touch: any hobbies? What would you like to contribute to the institute?

I am a tennis player enthusiast since a very young age. I am also an ocassional go player and a good cook (apparently). I would like to extend this field within the institute to foster research in the direct of thermal management materials.
