His current research interests include micro and nano scale tailoring of ceramic and ceramic-metal composites, focusing on microstructure-processing-properties relations. He has obtained 24 grants, and 14 industrial agreements, published more than 100 papers in international scientific journals indexed in the Web of Science or Scopus (H=29). His work led to more than 80 conference contributions and 10 invited presentations. He has trained (or still trains) 7 Ph.D students. Teaching includes postgraduate courses on "Frontiers in Materials Science" Instituto de Ciencia de Materiales de Madrid. CSIC. 2010-2022. and "Mechanical testing methods".
