"Daisy flowers in the nanoworld"

Miss Carmen Munuera. Instituto de Ciencia de Materiales de Madrid (ICMM-CSIC) (Spain)

Image Description:
SFM image of a daisy flower. This flower has been grown by molecular beam epitaxy (MBE)of iron onto silicon "grass". The formation of FeSi has given rise to this nice flowering. Imaging has been performed in contact mode, at ambient conditions...and the only thing left is the perfume!!
