Scientific productivity of women during confinement
As is already being seen in other areas, there is a gender bias in scientific productivity in the course of this epidemic. The following article shows that academic women are submitting fewer articles to journals compared to their male colleagues.
On May 12, the International Day of Mathematical Women is celebrated, chosen in honor of Maryam Mirzakhani (1977-2017), the first and only woman to have won a Fields Medal.
To commemorate the International Day of Mathematical Women, access to "Secrets of the surface", the documentary on Maryam Mirzakhani, has been released (until May 12).
Teresa Rodrigo Anoro, Professor of Atomic Physics at Cantabria University, died April 21st. She was an internationally recognized physicist in the area of particle physics, and also a reference in gender equity for her defence of the role of women in science, particularly in physics. She pionereed many leadership areas, opening the path for women in fields with traditional male dominance. She was member of the Specialized Group of Women in Physics, that belongs to the Spanish Royal Physics Society (http://www.gemf-rsef.es/). The ICMM express sincere condolences for this sad loss.
