Supported graphene from natural resources

A green strategy is followed to develop cost-efficient graphenic materials supported on silica and silicate porous solids. Thus, graphene-like materials are prepared from natural resources, such as sucrose and gelatin, at moderate temperature and without requirement of any reducing substrate. These graphenoid materials are mainly present as dispersed sp2 carbon sheets exhibiting good electrical conductivity together with a relatively elevated porosity, and they can be further transformed in multifunctional nanomaterials.
