1st International Workshop:
The New Generation in
Strongly Correlated Electron Systems, 20-26 June 2010, Playa Blanca,
Lanzarote, Canary Islands, Spain
Welcome
First Announcement
Poster of the conference
After decades of intense research in Strongly Correlated Electron
Systems the field continues offering exciting new discoveries. Several
generations of researchers have nurtured the field with solid developments and
stimulating novel avenues.
This workshop is mainly addressed to the
present new generation of researchers working in the physics of novel electronic
states of matter. Most of these researchers finished their PhD's at the
end of the 90's or in the present decade and are in some cases conducting an
independent research. They are already experienced but still
emerging and constitute the reservoir to strengthen the field of correlated
electron systems, amplify its impact in fundamental and applied research, open
new original areas of investigation and consolidate networks. Our aim is to
bring them together in a friendly atmosphere to promote scientific
collaboration. The structure of the conference, especially the
two-part talks
with an introductory and an advanced research part, have been selected with this
objective. To facilitate discussion, everyday we will have a round
table about the subjects of the day.
We are sure that very stimulating presentations and discussions will
arise in the workshop.
PhD students are greatly welcome. In the
workshop they will have the opportunity to present their work in the form
of a talk or a poster and to get to know research groups to collaborate with and
where to follow their career. They will also meet other students which as
them will form the Next Generation.
We hope that this workshop be just
the first in a series of conferences sharing the same philosophy. If you are
interested in organizing the 2nd workshop "The New Generation in
Strongly Correlated Electron Systems" please contact us.
