Laboratory

The  final aim of our Group is the synthesis and characterization of a wide panoply of materials (oxides and hydrides) that must be stabilized under high pressures, given its metastable character, or through treatments under controlled atmospheres. They may find application as energy conversion and storage materials, or in electronic or magnetic devices.

For the high pressure treatments the required equipment is set up in our laboratory; this equipment has demonstrated to have a huge potential for accessing to new metastable systems, in particular transition-metal oxides in unusual valence states, of a great basic or applied interest, as well as, recently, some complex metal hydrides.

The characterization of fuel cell materials is also performed in situ (except the experiments in Large Facilities); the magnetic and  some electric and electronic properties are carried out in collaboration with other groups.
