PhD GRANT to conduct a RESEARCH THESIS in the topic of
Novel Multiferroics and Magnetoelectric Materials
We offer a Predoctoral Research Grant (FPI) in the framework of a MICINN national project, to conduct the research thesis at the Instituto de Ciencia de Materiales de Madrid, CSIC.
The main goals are aimed at obtaining novel multiferroic and potentially multiferroicmagnetoelectric
oxides, belonging to the perovskite structural type, solid solutions with a
Morphotropic Phase Boundary (MPB), by non-conventional and energy and cost savings
methods of synthesis (mechanosynthesis) and processing (SPS). Their electrical, piezoferroelectric,
magnetic and magnetoelectric properties will be studied, establishing possible
size effects on the macroscopic functionality (submicro- and nanostructured ceramics).
Degree required
Graduate students in Chemistry, Physics, or Material Engineering.
The candidate must have a Master Degree (or be about to get one), and a very competitive
undergraduate curriculum. Previous expertise is not required, but it will be considered during
the selection process.
Grant duration: 4 Years
Starting date: Approximately July, 2012
